Muqi Zhang began studying piano at the age of five and has studied with Xiao Wu and Shanshan Jin. In 2024, he was admitted to the Middle School Affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and has been studying with Zhe Tang, Professor of Piano at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
Muqi has won numerous international awards, including Second Prize at the 22nd International Competition "Hommage à Alexander Goldenweiser" in Russia; Second Prize and the Youngest Talented Contestant Prize at the 19th Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany; First Prize and the Prize of Director of the Gustav Mahler Institute Prague at the Gustav Mahler Price Piano Competition. Other awards include First Prize at the Shanghai Piano Open Competition and First Prize at the SIPC Singapore International Piano Competition, among others.
Muqi has performed across Germany, Italy, Austria, Russia and China. He has been collaborated with the Central Music School Orchestra in Moscow and the Shenzhen Bay Symphony Orchestra in China. He has also performed at international music festivals such as Shanghai International Piano Festival & Institute; Italy Clavicologne Sea of Sounds International Piano Festival; Mozarteum University Salzburg International Summer Academy.
